Privacy policy

Last updated August 2026

This policy explains what Court Date Calculator (courtdatecalculator.co.za) collects when you use it, why, and what happens to it. It is written to be read rather than to be survived.

The short version

The calculators run in your browser. The dates you type are not sent to us and are not stored. We count visits, without cookies and without identifying you. If you create an account for Caseflow Manager, the matters you enter are stored so that we can show them back to you, and nobody else can see them.

What the calculators do with your dates

The court day, days between and prescription calculators do their arithmetic in your browser. The start date, the number of days, the matter name and the deadline description stay on your device. They are not transmitted to this site's servers and are not recorded anywhere. Closing the tab discards them.

One exception: to keep the public holiday list current, the site asks a public holiday API for the holidays in the years your calculation touches. That request sends the years only — never your dates, your matter or anything about you. If it fails, the built-in statutory calendar is used instead.

Visit statistics

We record that a page was viewed and that a calculation was run, so we know which parts of the site are worth improving. Each record holds the page path, the kind of calculation, the referring site if your browser sends one, and a coarse indication of the visitor for counting purposes. We do not set cookies for this, do not use a third-party analytics product, and do not build a profile of you across sites.

If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, nothing is recorded at all.

Advertising

This site carries advertising supplied by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, and you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices. Google's own explanation of how it uses data from sites that use its services is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

We do not control the cookies Google sets and we do not receive the data they collect. Ads are not targeted using anything you type into the calculators, because we never receive it.

Accounts and Caseflow Manager

Caseflow Manager, the matter-tracking part of the site, requires an account. If you create one we store your email address and the matters, parties, steps and dates you enter, so they are there when you return. That data is scoped to your account at the database level: another signed-in user cannot read it.

Authentication and storage are provided by Supabase. We do not sell this data, do not use it for advertising, and do not share it with third parties except as needed to run the service or as required by law.

You can ask for your account and everything in it to be deleted by emailing hello@courtdatecalculator.co.za. Deleting a matter removes its steps and parties with it.

Calendar exports

Adding a deadline to your calendar builds the entry in your browser — either as a file your device opens, or as a link that opens Outlook on the web with the details already filled in. The event is created by your calendar, not by us, and we do not receive a copy.

Children

This is a tool for legal practitioners. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 you may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to hello@courtdatecalculator.co.za and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can.

Changes

If this policy changes materially the date at the top of this page changes with it. Continuing to use the site after that means the revised policy applies.
